Description
100% ORIGINAL 1827 NEWSPAPERS! NOT REPRINTS! 1827 NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, WASHINGTON D.C. BOUND NEWSPAPER VOLUME WITH SUPPLEMENTS AND BROADSIDE! This fantastic newspaper volume covers the months from January through June of 1827. The newspaper was published on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Also included in this volume are many supplements to the dates...one of which is a broadside(printed on the front only with the back being blank). One of the supplements has a congressional debate on slavery right smack on the front! All the published dates are in the volume. Since this is a Washington D.C. publication, there are many 1st reports on national events, including laws, Presidential Proclamations, and acts. Nearly every issue has something on government legislation. All other items typical in newspapers are reported on as well. There are many great John Quincy Adams presidential proclamations with a drawing of the official United States seal! The picture showing a blank page is the back of the broadside. There is so much in here, it would take a long time to picture and list. What you see is just a mere portion of what is in there! This was a very influential newspaper in the United States! Condition: The newspapers are in fabulous condition. They are very strong and durable, raglinen newspapers! Jan 2, and 4th both have damage due to being at the front of the volume. The front board is detached from the newspapers, and there is no back board. Historic newspapers are a fascinating collectible. Many people know of the 20th century newspapers with topics from WWII where huge headlines reported Pearl Harbor, the death of Adolf Hitler, Hiroshima, D-Day, and so many other 20th century events. People have seen those, and they are quite striking. What is not known to many people is that American newspapers from the beginning of our country are still around! Yes, there are still American newspapers around from the early colonial 1700's through the Civil War, the death of Abraham Lincoln, the Custer Massacre, and the Indian Wars with Geronimo and Sitting Bull. Those topics can all be found in original newspapers! The best, and most surprising, is that newspapers which reported on the Revolutionary War are still alive and well! One can find reports on famous events such as Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, George Washington, Yorktown, the Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre in original newspapers from when those events occurred! Check out my auctions, you will be most pleased!! All my items are guaranteed 100% authentic and original! I accept checks, MO, and Paypal. I only accept confirmed addresses from Paypal. U.S. bidders only. Bidders outside the U.S. are welcome to inquire about bidding, and if they meet my criteria, I will accept them too. Shipping is 11.99 plus required insurance.
